Recently i had a meeting in a growing educational institution and they raised the following questions
1) How blogging will be helpful in learning?
2) How many faculties will be effectively blog?
The following presentation Blogging In Learning (PPS) will help you to understand how Blogs are helpful in learning.
I don’t know why faculties and Institutions are worried about blogging!!! May be Most Institutions,Professors,Lecturers may think “what other people think!!!”, I bet there would be few phantom bloggers inside the institution and they may inspire other colleagues to follow them.
Once the Faculties realize that a blog is nothing but a dairy which is available to all to share their knowledge, express their professional ideas (which they share with close friends in cabin or at Coffee ), I think blogs could go a long way in revolutionizing the classroom. A weblog can actively engage the faculty to work in their field and encourages research and make them to think different teaching methods. A blog may be a perfect sandbox to test new ideas/methods and to discuss their pros and cons.
If students are blogging on their learnings in classroom, Micro Blogging the same in popular micro blogging sites like Twitter and sharing in other social networks like Facebook why can’t faculties put what they teach in blog? Institutions can provide necessary facilities for faculties to blog which will give transparency to the Parents / New joiners also it builds confidence for hiring corporates for hiring more talent pool.
None of us are finished products we are consistently learning and renewing ourselves and why should a online presence revel that? And why institutions and faculties worried before trying it?
Empower the nation by Building a “Just Try It Culture” . Institutions may Emphasize ” Test & Learn” instead of ” Plan & Execute”.
